1 How to use a wiki

Wikis are websites which anyone can edit. They are extremely easy to use, once you know a little bit about them. They are much easier than your average forum. It is easy to see what's going on, easy to keep track of things, and easy to edit. But first, you have to register. Now you've signed up, note the Navigation menu on the left:
  • Most popular: this page shows you what pages other people are visiting
  • Recent changes: This is a good place to start. It gives a list of what articles have been changed recently: once you know that, you can go there and join in yourself. It's where the party's at.
  • Community Roundtable: A hangout for the wiki community.
  • Site map: List of all main article pages on the wiki.
  • Projects: main pages for various interests- click and see if your subject is covered in great detail yet.
  • Editing. It's easy, click here to see how.
  • There is one other important thing: When you visit a page, you may choose to keep track of changes people make to that page by clicking the "watch" tab near the top of the page. If the page is changed, it will appear on the list when you click the "my watchlist" link (top row of links).

There are other links which show you the workings of the wiki, such as the "history" tab.

There are more instructions in the Help category.

As you see, it is actually much easier to keep track of things on a wiki than on a forum or regular web page. Have fun and edit!
