Help:Using media
We will attempt to make it possible to play media directly on the web page sometime in the future (as the wiki software matures). For the present, this is only possible for mp3s. Other media will play in the user's default player when they click on a link.

Important note
It is better to insert media with the rich text editor disabled or in Wikitext mode.
Upload the file
You can upload media with the following file extensions:
png, gif, jpg, jpeg, mp3, mp4, ogg, pdf, mpg, mpeg, avi, flv, mp4, m4v, 3gp, wmv, wma, txt, pdf, doc, rtf, zip, 7z, tar, gz, tar.gz, svg.
Some of these file types can contain viruses, so you are responsible for protecting your computer if you click on files other users have uploaded.
To upload a file, use the "Upload file" link in the Toolbox on the left.
Display the file
Then, copy the name which shows on the file's upload page. Something like Image:YOURFILENAME. But change "Image" to "Media" (unless it really is an image), and insert it like this: [[Media:YOURFILENAME]] and you will get, for example Media:Horse_music_hestekor.swf. But if you want people to have the option of downloading, use "Image" instead of "Media." You can also give it a caption [[Media:YOURFILENAME|CAPTION]] to get CAPTION.
To embed mp3s
To embed an mp3, do <flashmp3>YOURFILENAME</flashmp3> without either "Media" or "Image"- you only need the file name. You will get <flashmp3>2005butler-think_positively_instantly_away.mp3</flashmp3> It is also possible to do use the methods described above, which take less space on the page and should open in the user's default player like this.
