Paranormal definition
Electronic Voice Phenomena, commonly known as EVP is anomalous, intelligible speech recorded in or produced by electronic devices, and for which no currently understood physical explanations can account. Recorded noise or noise mistaken as voice is not, by definition, EVP. The most common explanations for EVP are the Survival Hypothesis, in which EVP are the "voices" of the dead, Quantum-Holographic or "echoes of the past"[1] and thoughts of the living.
Normal/skeptical definition
EVP is the recording of errant noises, which sometimes seem to form speech. A particular instance of EVP may have one of several explanations, from radio interference to white noise mistaken by the human brain for speech.
