how about short urls for us wiki snobs?
Nice front page! huH? rich editor?>!]
Where did you get this rich editor? must be extension???
Hi, I do not know too much about short urls. My impression is that they create problems if you ever want to change servers. Is this true? Thanks on the front page (; The rich editor is FCK editor (same as Wikia only theirs is modified a little), just a plugin, and using one of the skins which came with it. It doesn't work if you have a lot of complex code (ruins it), but it is good for tables and general editing. If you used it on the main page, for example, it would ruin the page. Okay, another question: what would you want as an article on frontier thought? I wouldn't know how to start on such a large subject. Oh, and it would be great if wikis and blogs could get away from nofollow. I have it turned off, do you? PuRple scissortalk 07:46, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- The only way short urls would become a problem with a server move is if the server you moved to prevented you from using short urls. In this case moving back to the long form urls could disrupt search engine links for a few weeks. Regardless short urls are far superior to long form both in usability, incoming links, and search engine optimization. Etaroced 22:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good! I did some research on it, and I think I will try it as soon as I have a chance, since that seems to be what people want. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 02:14, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks for the advice (: PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 05:15, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Random?
Why doesn't WS have a "random page" link in the navbox? It's a very useful feature, for new visitors and dedicated editors both. Human 19:12, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed. :) Here is one: Special:Random Wikademia
- Hehe, yeah, of course that "works", or I could bookmark it, but I am curious as to why such a "standard" wiki feature has been removed from the navbox... Human 02:43, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- I never use the link. I put it in. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 03:53, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I didn't explain fully, but noobs to a wiki (who know wikis) often use it to get a "feel" for what a wiki is about. Dedicated editors use it to look for things to improve, copyedit, etc. Open ten randoms in new tabs and sit down to a wiki feast! Thanks again. Human 04:31, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

- Np. I tried to strip a much out as possible, both to make it as easy to navigate as possible and to make it different from Wikipedia. But everyone has a different way of using the interface. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 05:29, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Your wiki is borken
When I clicked show changes in my previous edit, the text got replaced by this:
<!-- Provides necessary formatting for reference tags like these: <ref></ref> --> ==References== <references/>
Try this and click show changes. Nx 23:51, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- Strange. I do not know why it is that way, but my best guess it that it is caused by the boilerplate extension. I will disable the boilerplate try the experiment tomorrow. Thanks for telling me (; PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 03:21, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- That extension is really old. You should consider using newer ones instead, e.g. Extension:MultiBoilerplate Nx 09:19, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I was right, it was the extension that messed it up. I disabled the extension, and will look at your suggestions later. Thanks (; PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 20:21, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

blacklist/whitelist
Wakademia posted this as a new page ("ufon ut") and I think it makes more sense to bring things like this up here:
http://
u fo nut
.com/
is that blacklisted????????????? how about we unblacklist? no? why not?
(end quote) Human 22:13, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I don't know how to make the whitelist, since the whitelist itself is subject to the spam filter. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 03:37, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- I realize now I should have put this on the roundtable. Human 21:21, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Oh it really doesn't matter does it? As long as we get things right. One day I will have time to figure out what went wrong with the whitelist. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 21:49, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
