When/if this site re-opens to viewing

I shall return as one of your main defenders against wandalism. If you don't mind, of course.Sweepy 22:39, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Wonderful! Thanks! I am pretty sure it is going to be able to re-open. I have to contact people and form a committee, and I also have to transfer the domain itself to someone else. I will remain somewhat involved especially to maintain the software. But I will not be responsible for it in the same way. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 19:57, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Sorry

Sorry about the re-naming. I do crazy, silly things when I am drunk and bored. I didn't actually mean any harm.Gooniepunk2005 06:08, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that is okay. I eliminated viewing overnight to prevent anyone from seeing it. But perhaps we need to make sure that does not happen in the future, so I do not have to lock people out when I am away. I am not sure how to do that. Try not to mention green goose a certain name again in any way, okay? PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 20:30, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Trust me, that is one name that I shall never mention (here, at least) again.Gooniepunk2005 21:52, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

A certain someone

Is there a way we could make the contributions, and by extension the old revisions of pages, made by a certain user, inaccesible to all non-admins, or even everyone except you? This would help truly erase him from the site. MrFahrenheit 15:08, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

There is a way, though I couldn't tell you offhand how to go about it. But, I've seen it done before to hide accidentally slipped personal information.Sweepy 15:59, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
It is a little time consuming to do. But you both now have the power to do that. Look at page histories and you should see the (show/hide) links. If you don't, get back to me. I created a ninja group, with that power. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 01:29, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good. Thanx, PS.Sweepy 04:24, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for the rights, they won't be abused. MrFahrenheit 20:52, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Interesting article

I think you would find this interesting. Sterile 23:31, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes, indeed. Human 05:07, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Thank you! I am swamped, I will read it when I can!
That is a good article. I will be able to use some of it to explain why a frontier field of study must establish a culture of science in order to be taken seriously. Tom Butler 16:54, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

turning off the external link icon?

How did you do it? Thanks. [1] Wikademia

who says that i will never develop them?

perhaps we could start a page on Divining the future. :) Wikademia

Perhaps, however, you have a year's work started already, so after developing them for a year, start more, ok? Thanks :D PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 07:47, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Lol. and ... umm... umm... umm... drats! : P !!!! Wikademia
You are such a good-natured person :D PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 10:12, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Let them know that on Wikiversity oh. and wikipediareview :) . I must say though... i think _NO_ deletion is the best way for a wiki to grow.. This could mean moving content that is less desiarable for the main-stage to a different name space (like userspace/beta namespace) or different wiki. but i know nothing about nothing. Wikademia
That is an interesting idea... you may be correct, and I would have to check to see what that would do to our Google rank. I think I have already read that Google does not like pages with little or now content, and does not like pages that are not internally linked. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 01:19, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
That's is Google's problem. Those stupid jerks. Their search engine sucks. Majestic12.co.uk .... or perhaps at Wikademia, someday I will show them how wrong they are. Or maybe I will wake up and wipe away my delusions about what should constitute good interwebs content. And I don't mean all that.. entirely... after direct traffic, Google has been the number one source for traffic to Wikademia.org... so THANKS google spiders, if you are listening. <3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wikademia
LOL!!!! Yes, who wants such a huge controller of the internet. Got to live with it though..... PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 09:08, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps. Wikademia

It lives!

Nice to see WS coming back to life. Human 06:04, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, it may be slightly anyway. The usage overall in terms of visits and hits keeps going up. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 11:22, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
So what is WikiSynergy all about? I recently tangled with the editors Verbal and Brangifer on Wikipedia, and they got me kicked off.--72.82.3.227 08:23, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that will happen since Wikipedia is controlled by pseudoskeptics in certain areas of its operation. To see what we are all about, read the links on the main page. You might want to work on our Wikipedia project. Welcome to WikiSynergy! PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 20:14, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
I have to be honest that I feel there's an unfocussed quality to this site. Even after reading those introductory articles, I'm not sure what this site is all about. You say somewhere that it isn't an encyclopedia, but perhaps that's what you should turn it into: an encyclopedia on "frontier" subjects (not sure what that would encompass, though). I found this site when searching for information on Brangifer (he inadvertently tells people on his talk page that personal information is available about him on the internet, so I did a search). As horrible as he is, I don't see how you can justify having an article about him since he isn't notable. If this site is just a place for some of us to come and lick our wounds after being mauled by skeptics on Wikipedia, that isn't a worthy purpose. In other words, it's not enough for this to be the "anti-skeptic" site. It has to stand for something positive.
By the way, I'm writing an article tentatively titled "Censorship on Wikipedia", which I'll put on my blog when it's finished.--Caleb 01:30, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Well done on your article, we do need exposure of Wikipedia's bias. The site is unfocused because that which is fringe is unfocused. If you want to know what we stand for and what we can do that is positive, read some of the articles, many of which are not encyclopedic. Brangifer is notable in the context of fringe articles on Wikipedia. Look at the menus on our projects.

Hello Purple one

How goes the Wiki these days? Gooniepunk2005 07:19, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, I haven't had time to do much with it. Life has intervened, and I am not sure when I will be able to continue and promote it. One project I would like to do is to transfer Skepticwiki content here, because it can't be edited where it is (and they won't give you editorship unless you agree with them it seems). And of course I would like to be involved in the debates, put up new articles... but *sigh* I don't have time now. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 18:35, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure Human and I could see what we can do to help out. I, myself, don't have much time for teh internets these days, but I flocked back here to try to debate that Lucho guy (who seems to have vanished) and it seems that I will be hanging around again for some time. Gooniepunk2005 20:13, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Well it's good to have you around (: PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 22:39, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Question

How bad of a troll was Shot info really? Just wondering, because they managed to show up on another site I contribute to, and while I usually assume good faith, it is hard to do so with professional trolls Grawp and the like. Gooniepunk2005 01:03, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Well, he's not a "professional" troll- he is just usually nasty and doesn't do anything useful. He's not like Willy on Wheels or some other vandal. So far as I can tell he just likes to drop in and make comments which tend to be disruptive and set people against each other. However, he is not all bad, and not all useless either from what I just saw of his recent edits on Wikipedia. Where did he show up? PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 02:50, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Just a hobby Wiki I contribute to on Wikia. When he showed up, I thought "Shot info.... where have I heard that name before.... Oh yeah! Wikisynergy." He has only created an account. He hasn't actually made any contributions that I'm aware of. Gooniepunk2005 03:42, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I see- well good luck, tell me how it turns out. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 04:22, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi.

Hi. Sterile 02:07, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Hey Sterile, how you doing? Sorry I haven't had time to put much energy into this site lately... RL called, could not refuse. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 05:51, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

IP spammers

Might I suggest you enable CAPTCHA for IP editors (I don't know if you already have it or not, as I don't make IP edits here)? Would probably cut down on the amount of IP spam this place gets, and wouldn't be too great an inhibitor on editing here. Gooniepunk2005 14:31, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Okay I will when I get a minute (: PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 18:26, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Spam filtering

I assume you've taken some of MediaWiki's suggestions for combatting this spam problem? Some of them will inhibit new users, but you can always have them (for example, CAPTCHA) disabled after an editor reaches "autoconfirmed" status. Gooniepunk2005 15:35, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, this has never happened before. I just put in $wgSpamRegex = '!(display\s*:none|overflow\s*:auto)!'; and will look over the rest of it soon... and thanks for the pointer, it would have taken me some time to find it, and also some time to notice we really needed it. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 15:59, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
And I had already done some of those things, for instance captcha. I need to set it up to work on all edits I guess. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 16:46, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
You guys seem about 3 days behind a couple other sites in this spam wave. The good news about that is that it makes it easier to figure out how to pre-empt these Auto Insurance spammers. Thus, if you don't mind, I've started doing just that. Sweepy 16:58, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
That's cool, thanks (: I still have it so only sysops can edit. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 18:03, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
