WikiSynergy talk:Linking
From WikiSynergy
"If we review a page and ... find that the link has the nofollow property, we will delete the page without discussion." That seems a little harsh, especially since the MW software makes links "nofollow" by default, perhaps making many interesting wikis out-of-bounds to link to. Has this site turned "nofollow" off? - From what I can tell looking briefly, it has indeed. Human 19:14, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, and since turning nofollow off is the work of 30 seconds, I do not think this is unreasonable. However, I should tell people how to do it. PuRple scissorʇɐןʞ 20:32, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- For wiki owners that might be a nice thing to do. WP does it to avoid huge amounts of spam, however most smaller wikis don't have such a problem. Interestingly, we are discussing the issue at RW right now. Human 02:36, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, and —of course it was not intentional— that has the effect that all sites point to Wikipedia, and Wikipedia does not point back. Which is a completely unfair advantage to them. I hope RW gets rid of the thing. And actually smaller wikis can have a huge problem, but it is still not nice at all to deny links. After all, it works both ways.
