I believe that in many cases, it is best to link to Wikipedia. When we describe frontier thought in an article, we use mainstream words like nuclear, or words from real people, like Einstein. For our readers, it is convenient to provide easy access to their meaning, so that they can understand what we are talking about.

The disadvantage is that they leave our website, and we don't know when they will come back. But that's the same when we link to Wikinfo, and Wikinfo will not help our readers as much as Wikipedia would.

(Concerning the impact of such links on Google's pagerank of our page, we can limit the "dilution" by using rel="nofollow", as Wikipedia does for external links) Pcarbonn 11:55, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

You may be right. Concerning nofollow for external links, that would be great if a) it works (and I've heard some question about that) and b) if we can add it for only some sites: after all, raising one's google ranking is a reason for establishing a presence on this site. But you're correct that Wikipedia is often good, and at the least we need to find a better solution. Purple Scissor 20:03, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Renaming GPOV to multiple points of view (MPOV)

GPOV is explained here: WikiSynergy:Structure#GPOV. I think it the idea is better expressed with the term "multiple points of view". The RationalWiki article on WikiSynergy says, "...WikiSynergy's response to the problem of NPOV is that of GPOV, or Global Point of View. How this differs to NPOV is unclear but it states that the wiki should allow 'each point of view [to] express itself fully in its own space'." I think this term is clearer.
